We all have someone that we miss and think of every day and every once in a while grab our phone to call, only to remember that they are gone.  Cancer steals way too many people that we love and those that survive go through hell to get to the other side and often live with  life-long side effects from the treatment.  WE ALL KNOW SOMEONE THAT IS FIGHTING CANCER RIGHT NOW!

As many of you know we lost our Dad, Jay Kinney on December 19th, 2012 after a long battle with Burkitt's Lymphoma (a rare form of non-hodkin lymphoma) & Leukemia and then MDS (all blood cancers).  In the 3 1/2 years following, my sister Julian Stacy Kinney and I have each trained for 2 half marathons and have raised money for Leukemia & Lymphona Society and Crohns & Colitis Foundation.  Crohns & Colitis is something that she and other members of our family have been deeply effected by along with 700,000. other Americans.

Our sister Jame's family has also raised money for LLS and American Cancer Society through "Penny's For Pasta" fundraising effort that was fueled by her husband Scott SanGeorge at Page High School and the kids were swimming for cancer research just this morning!



With the support of our family and friends and YOUR very generous donations we raised almost $30,000 from 2012-2015 for these medical charities.

2013 Nike Women's Half Marathon for LLS $8125.00
2014 Nike Women's Half Marathon for LLS $15,052.50 (Julian was top fundraiser in NC this year with over 11K!)
2015 Team Challenge Crones & Colitis Half Marathon $5845

Total for Medical Charities =$29,022.50

AND NOW... Julian is training once again for the Rock-N-Roll Half Marathon in Las Vegas in November to raise money for Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.  She has already raised $2220.00 and her goal is $2400.00  but I have a feeling we can BLOW THAT OUT OF THE WATER!

Julian and Amanda Are Running For Jay!

With the support of many friends and family, Julian and I have been training for the Nike Women's Half Marathon, which takes place April 27th, in Washington DC.

When our Dad was in the hospital fighting MDS in December of 2012, I decided that I wanted to do something to help others, to not have to go through what he was going through.  I was still hopeful that he would get better but on December 19th, he made the decision that he was finished with the fight and ready to go home to be with his Heavenly Father.  We held his hands and cheered him on as he left this world and went to a much better place.  He has shown us numerous times that he is still with us every day and we know that he would want us to continue the fight against cancer!

Because of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society funded research and the loving generosity of Dad's sister, Pam Hartsock, who gave him her stem cells, we had precious extra years with him.  Let's help others live longer and healthier lives, together.

Year to date, I have raised $3185.00 which isn't bad, BUT my sister Julian Stacy has been kicking it, and has raised $10,750.00.  $11,855.00 (4/21/14) That is amazing!   Together, with all of you, we have now raised $22,060.00 $23,177.50 for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since December 2012.  We couldn't do it without the support of our sweet Mom, Mandy, sister Jame' SanGeorge and brother Mark Martin.
